Tuesday morning Douglas went for his run to a car rental place and came back to the marina to collect the kids and I. We had a 9.5 hr drive ahead to get Ryanna back to Port Perry for her Grade Eight Grad Trip. (We pre-promised we’d bring her back for it).
So, with the boat safe, we headed out.
Doug drove most of the way, but I took the wheel for a while when Doug was getting heavy eyed and needed a nap. Well, heavy eyed until I took the wheel of course, then like every time I drive, he becomes super aware of my driving skills, which apparently are a tad stressful to him as I don’t think he slept at all. He kept telling me to stay in my lane, announcing an upcoming merge and asking if I was falling asleep. I think he prefers my Boat Driving skills. I like driving the boat more too.
We have spent this week at my parents house. Thanks for having us and our mess Mom and Dad. We are like a whirlwind coming through.
They live in a big old farmhouse, with tons of space, but mom feels our presence made it a touch crowded. He he he. She thinks 7 of us in 3000 sqft is crowded which is funny seeing the 5 of us have been living in 300 sq ft.
We got here on Tuesday night, and on Wednesday morning Ryanna was dropped off for her trip.
We invited my niece over to hang out with Kylie (Kylie needed her social activities to begin ASAP) and we all went to see Finding Dory, then we went to visit my baby nephew! He is such a cutie! We love him.
Thursday, my mom and I ran errands then on Friday Spencer and Kylie went to school. Not to learn of course, to visit.
My aunt had planned a baby shower for my nephew on Friday night so we were able to attend. It was great to see so many family members.
Since we’ve been home, the girls and I have gotten our hair done. I did Kylie’s, Doug did mine and a salon did Ryanna’s. I went red of course, Kylie got blond umbre and Ryanna got highlights.
On Sunday we invited ourselves to my aunt and uncle’s cottage. (Thanks for letting us crash your Sunday!!!!) Doug was excited to get on the water. He airchaired which is always so awesome to watch, then we put Spencer on a wakeboard for the first time. He did Amazing. He’s a natural and he loved it. This fact may have put a dinghy onto the high priority list, as we are pretty sure a dinghy and a 15 hp motor will definitely pull him.
Monday was Ryanna’s grad. It was so nice to see all of the kids looking beautiful and handsome, and all Grown Up! We aren’t sure where the time has gone.
We are so proud of her hard work at school.
Yesterday morning, first thing, we piled into the rental car and headed back to the boat. We miss our floating home! Well, Doug and I miss our floating home anyway.
Before leaving Port Perry the kids all did “surprise” goodbyes at some of their friends houses. Some friends got crazy morning goodbye slaps (Doug’s idea) some got awoken from deep sleep!! We videoed it all. Kylie was happy for a few extra friend hugs to help her get through the next 2 months.
So this morning we will be leave Chicoutimi and heading back to Tadoussac.
So happy to resume our trip.
